Ask Oka about his Ubud to Kintamani Tour. From Ubud you’ll leave at 9:00 am and stop first at the famous 9th century Goa Gajah Elephant Cave Temple. From there, you’ll travel north to the 11th century temple complex of Gunung Kawi spread across the Pakerisan River. Next, you’re off to the mountains of Tampaksiring, home of the renowned 10th century Tirta Empul (Holy Water) Temple. In this temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, it’s common to see water purification ceremonies.

Just uphill you’ll visit a community plantation where coffee, cocoa and Balinese spices are grown for sale in the cities to the south. Food and drinks are available at the plantation but guests often like to eat and refresh at the next stop: Kintamani, at the edge of Mount Batur’s massive volcanic crater. Ask Oka about stopping to eat at the incredible viewpoint at Lakeview Restaurant overlooking the crater; the food gets mixed reviews but the view is unbeatable!

Nearing the end of the tour, you’ll head south through some small villages to stop at the post-card views over Tegallalang rice terraces. If you’ve ever seen a postcard of Bali’s rice terraces it’s usually been taken at Tegallalang. Your tour ends back at the starting point in Ubud, but the adventure isn’t over. Be sure to ask Oka about other must-see sites around Ubud and around Bali for your next trip.
